A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do..

Do you want the good news or the bad news first?

Since you don't really have a choice I'll start with the bad news. It's no secret that we have a small team (effectively only a programmer and an artist) and we're totally independent - which is great in many ways, but sadly it also means we have no funding. I've worked full-time for years to pay the rent etc., and now Fivemagics have had to take a full-time job also, and naturally, will have less time to work on the project.

The good news is that we are not canceling development of WOF. We are not even thinking about canceling it. We will have to cut some corners and probably lower our ambitions in some areas, and while we have worked on it for a long time already, we wil have to work on it a little longer than we hoped for still.

Sometimes its good to be reminded of why we started to work on the project in the first place. We wanted full ownership which we could only get by being fully independent and carry all the expenses ourselves. Sadly we're not even remotely wealthy, so - while we're sad to not be able to work full-time on the game - we're happy that we still have a lot of inspiration and desire to finish the job. We can only hope that you will have continued patience with us and that you will like the game once its ready.

Que Sera, Sera.

...Phew! You had me going there for a moment Dennis! I thought you were talking cancellation there for a moment. Although a shame that 5M won't have as much time to spend on the project, completely understandable, and I think it's pretty amazing that you guys have stuck to your principles about keeping full ownership of your "vision". Sure you might've been able to get a bigger publishing house/game producer behind you - but I'd imagine you'd lose a LOT of control.

Also, of course I'd like to see the game released sooner rather than later - but I can't see me giving up gaming for a long time yet, so as long as it continues it's promising path, I'm sure I'll still be around harrassing you about a WoF release date! ;)

Seriously though, if you are concerned about "waning" interest and patience in the fans, I don't think you're too far off having a playable alpha/beta for the punters, maybe something to consider?

Good luck with the new job 5M, but tell them you can't do any overtime! (you need some hours to work on WoF!) :)

greatly written by menace as usual, but I have to emphasize that we are more determined then ever on finishing WOF, it deserves to be finished, we deserve to finish it and the world deserves to play it! specialy after i played fifa for some minutes recently and remembered how frustrating the controls are compared to WOF, we have to let the rest of the planet put their hands on WOF, its a MUST!

and thx EreWeGo for the encouragment!!

As a lurker from the Kick-Off/Sensible days, I'm quite happy to wait as long as it takes you guys to get something out. From what we've seen so far it looks amazing and I wish you guys all the best with your current jobs and look forward to seeing WOF when it's ready.

I really hope that you guys can get some donations or something in once you get a beta version out there...

Best regards

Fedorov.
